We are looking for a Technical Writer to play an important role in driving Alertus’ rapid growth. The Technical Writer will be part of the Marketing team and will be a key player in bringing our mission to life. In this role, you will be responsible for all the internal and external technical documentation resources and own the knowledge database.
This is a crucial role where strong writing skills and a thorough technical understanding of the Alertus product suite is key to success in providing the best technical resources for our employees and our customers. Our ideal candidate is a methodical “detective” with a strong desire to find the gaps in knowledge and fill them.
A Day in the Life:Manage and coordinate the logistics for the office relocation from Beltsville, MD to Baltimore, MD
Open the building for move logistics, appointments, and show current and potential vendors around as necessary
Setup and bring the new Baltimore office location into operational status
Become an expert of the Baltimore office building and grounds
Manage building utility vendors and negotiate best rates for service
Schedule and supervise utility repair work when necessary and ensure utility vendors complete work to expectations
Manage the building inspections and tests so operational status is maintained
Oversee other facilities related personnel
Regular inspections of the buildings’ structures, utilities, and appliances to determine the need for repairs or renovations
Review utilities consumption and strive to minimize costs
Ensure the facility and grounds are clean and free of trash, clutter, and loiterers
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Technical/Engineering, or equivalent experience
3-5+ years of Facilities Management
2+ years of Management/Leadership experience preferred
Knowledge of OSHA and other environmental regulations
Previous experience coordinating office relocations
Previous experience opening up a new building location is preferred
Knowledge of general maintenance methods, operating requirements, and safety precautions related to facilities management.
A willingness to troubleshooting and fix facilities issues
Strong procurement and negotiation skills
Ability to lift 40lbs
Ability to go to the building in off hours if necessary
