Job Description

Position Overview

The Quarantine Proctor is a one-year position whose role it will be to ensure that students who are unable to attend school due to a required quarantine period, but are well enough to participate in instruction, continue learning with minimal interruption. They will work closely with an assigned grade level to manage the needs of students on quarantine at that grade level. They will communicate consistently and effectively with families to develop a plan to support virtual instruction. When students for their grade level are not in quarantine, they will support school and grade level functions in a variety of ways. The Quarantine Proctor will report to the Grade Level Administrator for the Grade Level they are assigned to.

Provide instructional support to students on quarantine

● Work with your designated grade level to collect and distribute work to students on quarantine

● Monitor student work throughout a period of quarantine by providing academic feedback

● Develop and maintain a schedule for students to complete work throughout quarantine

● Engage in daily Zoom sessions to support student mastery by providing instruction, one-on-one support, or small group intervention

● Consistently communicate with the teacher so they are aware of the students progress and can complete grades for that student

● At times, partner with the Special Education teacher to provide supports and services to students with IEPs on quarantine

● Maintain reports and paperwork to document student attendance, work completion, performance, and parent contact

● Communicate with families to develop and share a plan to support a student while on quarantine

Support school wide COVID-19 Testing Program

● When needed, support asymptomatic pool testing procedures

● When needed, conduct notification and follow-up calls related to pool testing

● When needed, monitor the Red Room

● When needed, support the Rales Health Center with health and safety measures related to COVID testing

Provide Coverage for Teacher Absences to Maintain a Strong School Culture (when students are not in quarantine)

● Access coverage plans on Google Drive and manage Google Classroom

● When possible, meet with teachers prior to covering their class to review the agenda

● Follow school wide expectations to establish and maintain a strong student culture

● Deliver instruction, as outlined by teacher plans

● Collect and save student work to return to the absent teacher

● Communicate with parents when necessary, for positive and critical feedback

● Support timely transitions by monitoring students in the hallways and walking classes to and from lunch/recess

Develop as an instructional leader

● On days when the Coverage Specialist is not covering:

● Observe in Classrooms

● Attend planning meetings

● Attend content meetings

● Plan with mentor teachers

● The Leadership Team may ask for assistance in hallways, the cafeteria, or with special events

General Duties

Arrive at school by 7:25. Remain at school until 3:25

● Attend all Professional Development sessions during summer and summer school, beginning August 1.

● Attend Content and Team Meetings, when instructed

● Participate in Arrival and Dismissal Duty

● Support Intervention blocks as assigned by Grade Level Administrators

● Monitor halls and common spaces to support a safe and joyful school community

● Monitor and support lunch or recess duty

Qualifications

Qualifications

● Graduation from High school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate. (Required).

● At least 48 college credits from an accredited college or university or successful completion of the MSDE ParaPro Assessment.

● At least one year of experience working with children.

● Experience working with students from traditionally underserved communities (preferred, but not required). A deep commitment to, passion for, working with children and families from Baltimore’s communities so they excel academically.

● Ability to influence and motivate others.

● Ability to persist in the face of challenges.

● Strong organizational skills: planning ahead, meeting deadlines, and multi-tasking.

● Strong critical thinking skills: able to link cause and effect, slice data, and generate relevant solutions.

● A desire to learn and grow as a professional teacher and leader.

● Ability to lift 40 pounds.

● High energy, empathetic, humble, good sense of humor

● Command of instructional technology including Google Suite, Zoom, etc.

Additional Information

Compensation: $47,358.00/year and includes a full benefits package.
