DescriptionIf you're looking to further your career in accounting and enjoy solving complex problems, Accountemps has a terrific long-term temporary-to-full-time Staff Accountant position in the Insurance industry for you to check out. As a Staff Accountant, you will prepare journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance and general ledger reconciliation. You will have responsibility for many aspects of internal reporting during the monthly close. In addition, you will support the development and implementation of accounting policies. In addition, you will take part in compliance, communicate with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules for the reporting processes. This very involved position works to produce Cash Flow projections, Budgets, and Financial Statements. Be a part of various initiatives spanning multiple departments
Conduct month end close, journal entries, without supervision
Carry out fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
Partake in annual closing processes
Help with the implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Be responsible for analysis of income statements and balance sheets and communicate findings to management
Be responsible for account reconciliations including prepaid expenses, payroll, and other assignments
Organize capital lease and monthly payment schedules
Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as requested
Analyze and coordinate a variety of financial data, and report it in a useful and understandable manner
Requirements
Attention to detail and ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems
Foundational knowledge in Statutory Accounting
General ledger experience desired
Quality experience with Accounts Payable (AP)
Microsoft Excel experience preferred
Wide ranging experience with Accounts Receivable (AR)
Proven knowledge of journal entries
Practical knowledge of payroll
Proficiency in Financial Statement
Experience with Bank Account Reconciliation
Earlier work involving ACCPAC
Well-founded grasp of analysis
General familiarity with account reconciliation
ERP system experience
Proficient with spreadsheets and databases
Vow to meet business deadlines
Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases
Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and constantly changing company environment
Fully formed organizational, written and verbal communication skills
5+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience
Demonstrated ability in exemplary analytical, quantitative and social skills
