Job Description

The dispatcher is the first point of contact for emergency and non-emergency calls. Utilizes the main dispatch software system receives request information from external vendors and callers to coordinate Roadside Assistance requests on behalf of the customers. The Dispatcher will make decisions and takes the necessary actions to determine the most appropriate routing process to maximize driver efficiency. The dispatcher will communicate all pertinent data (customer situation, vehicle problem, location, etc.) to drivers. The hours will be a mix of days, evenings, and weekends.

Responsibilities Include:

Complete shift change check with previous dispatcher and communicate any open request

Make sure all log ins are there

Communicate and update the customers on status including driver arrival

Receive emergency and non-emergency calls and record significant information

Receive and dispatch calls

Prioritize calls according to urgency and importance

Use radio, phone or computer to send vehicles or to appropriate locations

Monitor the route and status of vehicles to coordinate and prioritize their schedule

Provide field units with information about calls, traffic, obstacles and requirements

Enter data in computer system and maintain logs and records of calls, activities and other information

Ability to utilize mapping software to determine locations based on information and spot to appropriate contractor/territory.

Manages assigned calls to trucks using a variety of communication channels

Requirements

Must be primarily an excellent communicator and able to remain calm and composed, especially in emergency situations.

Must be able to multi-task as well as take the appropriate action with little supervision.

Proven experience as dispatcher or relevant position

Fast typing with experience in data entry

Proficient in English (oral and written)

Outstanding organizational and multitasking abilities

Active listener with excellent communication skills

Sound judgement and critical thinking

High school diploma

Transcribe from Secondary software into main software

Information for calls over the phone

Experience managing multiple phone lines

Dispatch drivers based on the needs of the driver and availability of the truck

This position is considered Emergency Personnel, which means that in inclement weather and other types of emergencies, associates are to report to work as normal.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $12.00 /hour
