We are seeking an experienced

Mainframe Systems Programmer to provide support for our mainframe applications in our data center environment including designs, implements, and ensures successful backup and recovery process, including current applications data as well as all historical data for audit, legal and government requirements.

Position Responsibilities;

• Designs, implements, monitors, and maintains the IBM z/Enterprise server infrastructure.
• Develops and maintains detailed disaster recovery systems and procedures.
• Manages, maintains, and supports the z/OS and IDMS database environment.
• Maximizes production system availability for both internal and external users by balancing hardware and software resources at reasonable and acceptable cost levels;
• Manages hardware/software installations and upgrades on the z/Enterprise platform including integration with all distributed systems.
• Develops, manages, and supports procedures for automating systems health check.
• Manages all z/Enterprise attached backup and storage devices.
• Keep all major mainframe software and subsystems up to date.
• Performs regular mainframe software upgrades to mitigate application down time.
• Performs a daily system review that entails reviewing DASD storage and print queues, surveying system logs for anomalies or inefficiencies.
• Diagnoses, corrects, and surveys traffic, connections, and anomalies on multiple STCs and connections.
• Develops and documents support strategies, troubleshooting guidelines, and escalation procedures, supporting enterprise computing.

Position Requirements;
Minimum of 5 years systems programming support experience that includes:

• Extensive experience installing IBM, CA, and OEM products on z/OS and MVS operating systems
• Knowledge of managing centralized and distributed architectures;
• Strong USS application and architecture knowledge;
• Advanced knowledge of components of the z/OS operating system (MVS), CICS/TS, TSO, JES2, WLM and how to interact with them;
• In depth knowledge of IBM and third-party system software including; SMPE, HCD/IODF, JES2, VTAM, TCP/IP, TSO/ISPF, DFSORT, CICS/TS, SDSF, RMF, WLM, OMEGAMON, WebSphere MQ, Sub-Capacity Reporting Tool (SCRT) SCRT; and OEM system software including; CA-Common Services, RIM, CA-ENF, CA-IDMS, CA-ACF2, CA-7, CA-11, CA-PANVALET, CA-TPX, CA-MVS/OPS, CA-DOCCI, CA-1, CA-MIM, CA-Easytreive Plus, CA-JARS, Focus, FDR/ABR, ViewDirect/Document Direct, VPS, JSF, DIF, Quickref, Jobscan, Code-1 Plus, MailStream Plus MSP, EMC TIMEFINDER MIRROR/SNAP/CLONE, and LUMINEX virtual tape system;
• Extensive knowledge of the IBM DS8000 series disk sub-system including configuration of the virtual 3390 disk pool and configuration and set-up of the Copy Services Manager (CSM) software to support disk replication
• Extensive experience with performing special database backups, restores and refreshes using FDR/ABR software upon request;
• Extensive experience with installation and integration of third-party vendor software on IBM z/OS systems

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or other technical discipline
