Job Description

This internship is a rigorous hands-on experience that will develop and refine the skills that are essential to succeed in a professional setting. Interns will improve upon their writing and speaking abilities, as well as their critical thinking and organizational skills. Our team is devoted to providing a mutually beneficial and rewarding experience for District Office interns. Accepted interns will assist the Congressman and his staff with various responsibilities including the overall day-to-day operations of the office, casework, and events. Day-to-day office operations include drafting letters of correspondence, processing mail, answering telephones, greeting visitors, and any other unique tasks that may arise. Interns will have the opportunity to assist caseworkers with ongoing cases in areas ranging from Social Security and Veteran’s Affairs to Immigration and Federal Government Contracts. Interns are also invited to attend events with members of the Congressman’s staff. Some events that past interns have attended include ribbon cutting ceremonies and Eagle Scout ceremonies. Towards the end of the fall internship program, interns will travel to Washington, D.C. for a tour of the Capitol and lunch with the Congressman. Internships are part-time throughout the semester, with flexible start and end dates. Qualifications

Applicants must be pursuing a college degree, or have attained a college degree.
