Location: Rockville, MD
Duration: 10 Months Contract (very high possibility of extension)

Job Description:

  • Ability to read and create high level diagrams, network diagrams, & cable marking specs
  • Ability to run & terminate network cables & professionally install table/console/rack-mounted computing equipment
  • Ability to diagnose/triage and resolve HW issues with a basic understanding of system administration to either recommend a forward plan for other teams or to resolve simple software/firmware/operating system issues
  • Reliability on-site to support multiple program labs with varying equipment, potentially on a shift basis with occasional on-call support
  • Desire to grow into more of a hardware engineering role with eventual oversight of newer technicians, design/architecture responsibilities, and increased cross-functional & program-level interfacing
  • Attention to detail regarding quality of work, documentation, work planning
  • Experience with the system development life cycle focusing on development labs from design to implementation to maintenance to decommissioning, knowing that we have internal process that have been tailored to fit our environments and customers
  • Experience using the following tools: Atlassian suite (mostly JIRA & Confluence), Visio, NetZoom
  • May be responsible for establishing and conducting testing routines, developing or executing project plans, schedules, and documentation of work results
  • Prefer prior experience working with COTS hardware such as HP, HPE, Aruba, Cisco, Dell, NetApp, Juniper, & others in a service desk environment
  • Should be able to apply discretion and judgment and invoke sound engineering principles, theories, and concepts to complete assignments
  • Able to work individually and in teams
