Responsibilities

In the position of accountant, you will ensure accurate and timely monthly and year-end close, as well as related basic management reporting. You will manage accounts payable, including royalties accounting; work on cash reconciliation and inventory valuation; and assist with payroll and benefits administration.

Detailed responsibilities include:

- Monthly and year-end close within the required deadlines

- Preparing financial and management reporting and other financial analysis as needed

- Managing accounts payable

- Royalty accounting

- Accounts receivable management in cooperation with fulfillment provider

- Inventory valuation

- Multi-state and international sales tax reporting

- Manage required IRS information reporting (forms 1099 and 1042-S)

- Assisting external tax advisor with annual tax return

- Coordinate payroll and benefits administration with external provider

- Basic HR administration

In this position, you will report directly to the managing director of Rheinwerk Publishing.

Required Skills and Experience

First and foremost: Youre passionate about your job, and you would love to shape and improve the processes related to your position. The backbone of your skills is your strong experience in financial accounting, but you are not afraid to step outside your comfort zone and help improve the general administration of our business.

Detailed requirements include:

- You hold a BA/BS in Business with an emphasis in Accounting.

- You have at least 5 years of experience in financial accounting/reporting, preferably in small or mid-size businesses.

- You have experience with professional accounting software; Sage would be a plus.

- You have advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

- You can work well independently, at times with little direction and are comfortable searching for solution to any issues that may arise.

- You prioritize projects successfully and manage them simultaneously.

- You are able to understand and interpret tax- and HR-related publications.

- You have a talent to analyze and improve processes relating to your position, or create new processes as needed.

- You have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

- You work successfully toward deadlines and goals and consider yourself a team player.

Salary and Hours

The position is part time, 30 hours/week.
