Job Description

Wood Mackenzie is looking for a future focused Agile Coach with excellent problem solving, teamwork, and communication skills to join our industry-leading data analytics company. We are headquartered in Scotland, however, our engineers are located across the UK, Europe and the US where our team is working on a next generation, data analysis & visualization platform utilized by our customer to drive billion-dollar decisions.

Role Purpose

The Agile Coach 2 is responsible for implementing agile practices across multiple development teams to maximize their delivery of value in minimum time. They have a developed knowledge of multiple agile methodologies, and coach teams autonomously to use diverse agile practices to improve continuously and develop sustainably using metrics. This position is a “servant leader” to the teams in their care by providing coaching, facilitating fairly, removing blockers, enhancing communication, and redirecting outside interference to appropriate channels. They are accountable for establishing a safe working environment to enable continuous improvement, while balancing this with transparency needed to assess delivered value.

Responsibilities:

  • Coach teams to manage project scopes and timelines
  • Coordinate sprints, retrospective meetings and daily stand-ups
  • Coach team members using Agile frameworks and practices to maximize the teams’ delivery of value
  • Facilitate internal communication and effective collaboration
  • Be a point of contact for internal stakeholders
  • Work with product owners to handle backlogs and new requests
  • Resolve conflicts and remove obstacles that occur
  • Help teams implement changes effectively
  • Coach teams to ensure deliverables are up to quality standards
  • Guide development teams to higher scrum maturity
  • Help build a productive environment where team members ‘own’ the product and enjoy working on it
  • Review ways of working and coach teams to stabilize and mature
  • Manage escalations from project teams and work towards resolutions in a collaborative manner balancing customer value and technical debt
  • Promote a culture of code quality and continuous improvement

Qualifications

The person who fills this role must be a self-starter with an agile mindset who is energized by a challenge, passionate about bringing great products to market and love the thrill of creating a new standard for what’s possible.

Skillset

  • 1-2 years of experience in an Agile Coach/Scrum master role
  • Familiarity with software development
  • Excellent knowledge of Scrum techniques and artifacts (such as definition of done, user stories, automated testing, backlog refinement)
  • Good knowledge of other Agile frameworks (SAFe, Kanban)
  • Excellent communication and servant leadership skills
  • Problem-solving and conflict-resolution ability
  • Outstanding organizational skills
  • Degree in Computer Science, Business or similar field
  • Agile certification (CSM, PSM, or PMI-ACP)
