Description:
Position Title: Data Scientist
Business Line: Data & Analytics
Reports to: Advanced Analytics & Data Science Lead
Basic Purpose:
The Data scientist is a member of the analytics team whose focus is to build custom calculation engines, cleanse datasets and build reports and dashboards supporting the ESG and other quant business users.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Partner with business teams to understand and document requirements, processes and workflows developing both written and visual depictions of requirements and process flows
• Work extensively in python and additional statistical packages to develop solutions for business problems statements.
• Deploy code to analytics platform using self-service deployment or partner with the technology team for dev-assisted deployment.
• Intermediate level knowledge of docker and Jupyter notebooks/Jupyter Hub
• Engages with business quant teams in a consulting capacity to train/help build analytics solutions including Machine Learning models
• Builds Tableau Data Models utilizing best practices, ensures data accuracy and ability to blend with other certified data sources. Maintains data sources on Tableau Server.
• Understand the reporting framework (Tableau) and partner with Enterprise reporting IT team to build & deploy reports and dashboards.
• Evaluate data sources and technology options, recommend appropriate solutions.
• Perform data analysis, data profiling, data mapping and develop ad hoc SQL queries and present the analysis in a dashboard
• Perform QA testing of developed deliverables and assist with User Acceptance Testing
• Partner effectively with all levels of the organization and be responsible for direct interaction with internal business users.
• Manage the prioritization, logging and tracking of user related issues, defects, enhancements and work requests
Job Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Finance, economics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or Physics
• Minimum of 5 years in investment analytics
• Minimum of 5 years business/data analysis and/or system development experience
• 5+ years’ experience in the financial services industry
• Strong development skills in Python
• Strong SQL skills
• Strong Excel skills
• Experience building complex dashboards in Tableau
• Exposure to cloud environment (AWS or Azure)
• Strong analytical skills, problem solving and attention to detail.
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Excellent verbal and written skills
• Maintain a strong commitment to quality
