After WWII, the original Mitsubishi organization was disbanded to become independent companies as they are today.Job PurposeThe Category Buyer is responsible for a portion of Specialty Chemicals spend. The role entails strategically approaching the supply markets to ensure a fit-for-purpose purchasing portfolio for the regional organization, enabling the most reliable and cost-effective purchasing experience possible in North America (leveraging economies of scale, skill, and standardization). A Category Buyer is responsible to support the development and own the execution of regional category strategies in collaboration with the procurement leadership and functional stakeholders. A combination of procurement hard and soft skills is required, as well as industry and product understanding.Principal Accountabilities

Define and own strategies for dedicated subcategories, in alignment with the regional category team strategies and targets

Ensure transparency of all contracts, reviewing terms and validity frequently, and managing the contract portfolio of responsibility

Responsible to deliver qualitative and quantitative for the spend area of responsibility, in support of the achievement of regional category targets

Responsible for the effective sourcing and engagement of reliable vendors for the assigned area of spend

Responsible to analyze the spend profile on quality, cost, and delivery, and ensure high data integrity in all regional MCG procurement systems

Consult cross-functional teams as part of the category activities and is a partner to the business, while reporting to the Specialty Chemicals Regional Category Manager

Responsible for the collaboration with the wider global procurement organization, especially the effectiveness of interfaces with the procurement operations teams (Regional Hub)

Responsible for compliant purchasing within North America in the dedicated spend area

Support MCG’s critical activities in the areas of ESG, KAITEKI, and HSE

Support efforts within MCG procurement organization to optimize and digitize transactional activities

Report to the respective Senior Manager Direct Procurement

Suppliers managed: 50-75

Knowledge / Skills / Experience

Bachelors degree in a related field required (e.g., supply chain management, engineering, STEM, etc.)

Proficient in MS Office, spend analytics tools, e-sourcing platforms, project management and effective presentations

Business fluent in English

Good decision making, prone to strategic thinking

Good analytical and problem-solving skills

Building effective relationships with stakeholders from varied backgrounds

Ownership-oriented approach in the professional environment

Min 3 years’ experience in procurement in an international environment, preferably in chemicals, automotive or electronics

Performing contract negotiations (incl. terms and conditions), running competitive sourcing events

Experience in procurement for the Commodities spend area assigned is an advantage

The salary range for this position is $85,700 - $107,100. Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations may influence base pay offered. This salary will be subject to a geographic adjustment (according to a specific city and state), if an authorization is granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting.
