Job Description

We are looking fora results-oriented peer review professional to support the growth and development of our editorial office administration program.

The Editorial Office Team Leader will coordinate the provision of efficient peer review admin services, developing, deploying and being responsible for efficient set-up and quality monitoring processes across various growing engagements, via office-based, home-workers, freelancers and international outsourcing. You will manage recruiting, performance management and supervising a suite of training for a number of individuals. In this role, you will work with the Senior Manager of the Editorial Office team on resource allocation, ensuring effective team working and prioritization to accommodate competing demands. As such, this post would suit someone with some experience monitoring team progress and performance as well as building effective working relationships within a journal publishing environment.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Coordinating out-sourced editorial office administration processes, working with Senior Manager of Editorial Office to supervise annual roll-out schedule and ensure appropriate communications during set up and beyond
  • Setting and reviewing objectives and development goals for team members, including delegation of tasks and projects, providing support and feedback
  • Being responsible for the Editorial Office team and suppliers, including auditing services, timely feedback and reporting on supplier performance, resolving escalated issues and advancing to Senior Manager - Editorial Office as appropriate
  • Financial reporting including invoice processing, spend monitoring and annual forecasting.
  • Foster a climate of continuous improvement by identifying strategic workflow process obstacles and implement improvements, sharing best practice at all times
  • Contribute toward intra- and cross-departmental projects, including reporting to senior management on outcomes
  • Handle confidential information confidently and sensitively, with consideration for the legal and ethical issues that may arise from any mishandling

Qualifications

  • An understanding of the journals publishing environment, with clear grasp of submission and peer review processes, systems, and best practice
  • Delivery of excellent service to both internal and external customers
  • Supplier management, including relationship building and corrective feedback
  • Data management and reporting
  • Effective prioritization, productive communication, and excellent organizational skills
  • Coaching and building relationships
  • Familiarity with process improvement principles
