Molecular& Computational Scientist (Cardiovascular), are

to:

Advance disease biology understanding

and target identification in cardiovascular diseases using genomics

/ transcriptomics approaches;

Identify new mechanisms, pathways and

druggable targets for the development of novel, causative therapies

using state-of-the-art experimental and computational

methods;

Plan and execute experimental cellular

and molecular biology studies in collaboration with our strategic

collaboration partner, the Broad

Institute;

Integrate transcriptomics data with

other available genetic, epigenetic, epidemiologic and functional

datasets to help prioritize potential therapeutic

targets

Evaluate, implement, and apply

computational methods to analyze large and complex genomics and/or

transcriptomics data sets;

Drive continuous improvement in

methodology, processes and formats through own expertise and

experience;

Project management of target discovery

projects;

Communication and interactions with

interdisciplinary project teams;

Participates in scientific meetings and

seminars and represents the Precision Cardiology Lab at internal

and external meetings and

conferences;

Performs other related responsibilities

as necessitated by the position.

Who you areYour success will be driven by your demonstration of

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the

following:Required Qualifications:

Doctorate or PhD in natural sciences

(genetics, molecular biology, bioinformatics), medical science or

pharmacy;

At least two years of research in an

industrial or academic setting with a proven record of successful

interaction with collaborators, vendors or external

customers;

Programming skills and experience with

programming languages such as Python or

R;

Demonstrated ability to work in a team

environment and the ability to adapt to the atmosphere of a dynamic

research organization;

Creative and flexible thinking, being

open-minded and challenging the status

quo;

Able to build excellent working

relationships, initiating new collaborative projects and an

enthusiasm for taking a hands-on approach to collaborative

scientific discovery efforts;

Must enjoy working in a fast paced,

cutting-edge and challenging

environment;

Ability and willingness to think

“outside the box” to develop and adopt relevant

emerging technologies;

Excellent written and oral

communication skills with a strong record of research publications

and high profile scientific

presentations.

Preferred Qualifications:

Expertise in analyzing large datasets

in the area of gene expression analysis is highly

preferred;

Experience with cellular and/or animal

models of cardiovascular disease

biology;

Knowledge of computational biology and

experience in computational pipelines for analyzing of large

datasets, such as single cell

genomics.
