Job summary
AWS Refactor Services (part of the Migration Acceleration Services organization) is looking for a dynamic software developer who is entrepreneurial, a team builder, and passionate about aligning technology strategy to customer opportunities. We are accelerating our customers' journey from identifying applications to modernize in AWS to transforming applications to cloud native architectures and are looking for engineering leaders that enthusiastically drive innovation. Our team recently launched AWS Migration Hub Refactor Spaces, a new service that is the starting point for application refactoring, and we are growing rapidly. We are also hiring for new green field refactor services currently in stealth mode that will accelerate application rearchitecture. We need exceptional engineers that are passionate about mastering their craft and exceeding customer expectations. We are looking for engineers that are energized by rapid innovation, customer challenges, and opportunities to deliver ground-breaking functionality. If that's you, join our team!

What does work-life harmony mean to us?
Our team values work-life harmony. It isn't about how many hours you spend at home or at work; it's about the flow you establish that brings energy to both parts of your life. We offer flexibility in working hours and encourage you to find your own balance between your work and personal lives. We come to the office and work from home, blending the best of both to collaborate, have focus time, and innovate. However, we recognize that not everyone can come to the office at the same time or with the same frequency and our teams expect and accommodate that.
Software teams at AWS build and operate their own services and that means our roles involve on-call responsibilities when we have services running in production. You can expect that typically means being on-call for one week every two months. Nobody likes getting paged after hours, so we work to ensure that our systems are fault toler-ant and highly available. When we do get paged, we work together to resolve the root cause so that we aren't paged for the same issue twice. We are proud of our availability and low page volume.

What kind of fun will you have?
Work with the best and brightest engineers on an autonomous team that owns its product design, implementation, and operation working to solve real world customer problems. Collaborate internally and with other AWS teams to innovate design and implementation to drive product growth and customer impact. Continuously learn about AWS and open source technologies in an open environment with peer coaching and mentorship. Perfect the mastery of your craft in a full-stack polyglot environment creating high quality design and implementation while driving operational excellence.

What does it take to thrive in this role?
You take ownership and accountability for creating customer outcomes through your impact on teams, technology, and your organization. You are energized by collaboration on product and technology strategy, and able to quickly transform ideas into working software. You are exemplary in building services that can evolve over time improving the ability to deliver new features and accelerate delivery without compromise to operational excellence and quality. The right candidate is engaged in thinking lean, using data to drive decisions, and embraces technical ambiguity and complexity.
