Position Summary This position will be responsible for implementation and pull through of strategic Diagnostic projects as well as managing all critical diagnostic initiatives for the US Commercial team including; coordination and project management of key initiatives and development of new tools and resources that may be needed. They will be responsible for identifying new strategies and tactics to drive patient identification of rare diseases with diagnostics. This position will also manage a team of field-based regional diagnostic account specialists who are responsible for diagnostic pull-through at accounts and institutions.Integral to the ongoing success of Alexion’s US commercial team, you will work closely with other diagnostic teams within the organization including R&D, Clinical and Global. We are looking for individuals with experience in driving end – to – end diagnostic strategies. The Diagnostic Strategy Lead role will be a critical strategic role at Alexion across a broad range of stakeholders including R&D, Clinical & Global diagnostic partners. Job Duties & Responsibilities

Establish and lead the US Commercial diagnostic activities of internal and partnered capabilities critical for the successful advancement of patient identification across the Alexion portfolio.

End–to–end US Commercial diagnostic strategy for all therapeutic areas including the development and successful implementation of diagnostic strategic plans, programs, initiatives.

Responsible for all operational aspects of US Commercial diagnostic projects, including stakeholder management, project scope, strategy, planning, resourcing and project direction, execution and closure.

Responsible for the analysis and evaluation of all US Commercial Diagnostic initiatives, investments and results.

Build the US Commercial Diagnostic Function as a center of expertise for the US commercial team - drive and execute/deliver on diagnostic strategies that are agreed upon within specific therapeutic areas

Be a thought partner to and collaborate closely with other cross functional diagnostic team members including R&D, Clinical and Global Diagnostics

Work in close collaboration with the US Commercial team to develop new tools and resources that are needed for patient identification education in the field, and develop business cases, evaluate strategic diagnostic options and assess each TA diagnostic market landscape.

Prioritize diagnostic opportunities for the US Commercial team through deep understanding of the marketplace, customers and industry drivers given market competition, clinical applications and industry dynamics.

Manage a team of field-based regional diagnostic specialists who will be working with national and regional diagnostic labs, as well as pulling through institutional and account-based diagnostic initiatives

Essential Qualifications

12 to 15+ years of related and/or transferable experience in a commercial diagnostics capacity at a biotech or pharma company

At least eight years of experience in leading diagnostic projects.

Bachelor’s Degree or the equivalent in Life Sciences, Business, or a related field required, advanced degree preferred

Expert industry knowledge and diagnostic laboratory/digital acumen with a track record of successfully managed Dx projects and success working with both commercial and other cross functional teams

Preferred Qualifications

Project management experience and excellent analytical, strategic thinking, creativity and problem-solving skills

Experience establishing and reviewing complex plans for multiple projects or activities. This includes planning resource allocation and distribution and identifying contingency plans

Strong leadership skills and experience in impacting cross-functional teams without direct line authority and managing within matrix

Strong communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams

Ability to work under pressure, in a fast-paced environment

Managerial experience directly managing people and leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs and directing the allocation of resources

Advanced computer skills (Excel, Power Point and Microsoft Project)

Self-starter who functions well independently and within a team
