About This Role

We are seeking a motivated histology associate scientist to join our expanding team. As part of the highly collaborative Research Histology Core, you will be responsible for development and validation of new immunohistohemistry assays as well as performing single-plex and multiplex staining using previously optimized protocols. The work will involve robotic instrumentation as well as manual staining techniques and will support our preclinical research and development programs. You will advise and train users on histology and immunohistochemistry-related methods and on use of the staining equipment.

What You’ll Do

  • Optimize, validate, and conduct immunohistochemistry and in-situ hybridization assays, single-plex and multi-plex
  • Work with internal and external teams to evaluate staining and contribute to interpretation of the results
  • Train other users on histology and immunohistochemistry methods and use of automation
  • Assist and train other users in sample processing and embedding
  • Document protocols and sample-related information

Qualifications

  • BS degree in biomedical sciences or related discipline
  • 6+ years of hands-on experience with histology and immunohistochemistry-related assays in an academic, diagnostic, or industry lab

Required Skills

  • Multiplex immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence assays, including assay development
  • Proficiency with Leica Bond and / or Ventana Ultra automated staining platforms
  • Tissue trimming, processing and embedding techniques
  • Tissue sectioning, including FFPE and fresh frozen animal tissues
  • Experience with biological sample handling and working in BSL2 lab

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with in-situ hybridization methodologies, knowledge of the RNAScope platform preferred
