Job Summary
We are seeking a talented, self-motivated, and highly experienced technical leader to join our team in creating world class robotic systems for use in military, law enforcement, and first responder missions. As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will lead teams of multidisciplinary engineers developing solutions to today’s ground robotics problems. Traversing difficult terrain, manipulating explosives and autonomously navigating unexplored territory are all in a day’s work for our suite of robots. The Unmanned Ground Systems Team develops the solutions that make this possible.
The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for product performance and development execution from product concept to transition to production. To be successful in this role, the individual should be comfortable working closely with discipline leads and experts to develop concepts, plan development activities and evaluate concepts, designs and prototypes. The individual will be expected to provide leadership to the design team, execute trade studies and evaluate designs against customer and internal requirements. The individual will generate content in support of program milestones and brief stakeholders on development progress and issues. This is a hands-on leadership role in an R&D environment. Individuals who are strong technically with a proven track record of success in product development will thrive in this role.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Applies broad technical knowledge and skills in multiple technical/scientific disciplines to the analysis, specification, planning, development, design, integration, testing, and production of UGV systems
  • Leads system level hardware and software integration, and verifies the operation of subsystems and systems
  • Prepares systems engineering cost estimates, project schedules, and CDRL items
  • Responsible for execution of the systems engineering content on multiple projects
  • Manages system interfaces, requirements, and design constraints
  • Investigates and resolves system-level issues
  • Provides technical expertise in planning for next generation initiatives
  • Applies formal systems engineering best practices and processes

Required Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or science from an accredited college or university
  • 6+ years of relevant experience working on electromechanical systems with heavy software components
  • Accomplished in engineering or scientific domain of expertise
  • Fluent in multiple relevant technical/scientific domains and can work through complex issues across engineering disciplines
  • Proficient with MS Windows OS and MS Office applications

Preferred Experience
  • Master’s Degree in engineering or science from an accredited college or university
  • Technical experience in a robotics related field
  • System concept and design, including development of CONOPS, requirements, functional and physical architecture, trade studies, etc.
  • Technical leadership on projects, including development of cost and schedule estimates, risk management, leading system design reviews, vendor technical management, etc.
  • Integration, verification, and validation, including development of test plans and procedures, leading system integration, coordinating and executing design verification testing, and validating system performance against mission objectives
  • Design and development of rugged, reliable systems for military applications
  • Proficient with DOORS, Creo, Altium, Linux, and software development environments
  • Familiar with SysML, MBSE, and modeling and simulation approaches
