This role will focus on administering, maintaining, optimizing, automating, upgrading and tuning on-prem and AWS databases. This is a permanent, direct-hire position that can offer benefits, aggressive 401K match, and a mostly-remote working schedule.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Creates, maintains, monitors and tunes database objects in multiple computing environments.
  • Manages database object migration between development, performance, training and production environments.
  • Works closely with the application developers to tune SQL and indexes for optimal performance.
  • Perform required technical tasks to support production applications including:
  • Creating and dropping databases, tables, indexes, constraints, triggers.
  • Strong experience as a Database Administrator / DBA including performance tuning and optimization
  • Perform the installation and configuration of the PostgreSQL, MySQL and MariaDB software
  • Creation of new and migration of existing databases in Cloud and on prem
  • Knowledge of NoSQL Databases and implementation of deployments using CI/CD pipelines
  • Daily maintenance of the PostgreSQL and MySQL databases of our customers: backups, monitoring, capacity management, etc.
  • Create and maintain database backup and recovery of corrupt or lost databases or objects.
  • Identifying server level configuration variable changes to provide optimal performance.
  • Monitoring space used on databases and increasing space as needed.
  • Interact with technical support to resolve database or process related problems.
  • Maintain technical knowledge in the data management field through education and work experience.
  • Works to automate manual DBMS tasks through scripting and utilization of DBMS tooling.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • A four year degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • 2-6+ years of Database Administration or related work experience.
  • Experience in Cloud migration and knowledge of maintaining Infrastructure as Code
  • Cloud migration and CI/CD experience is needed preferably AWS.
  • Background in physical database design and administration with MS SQL and DB2 preferred.
  • Experience in analysis, design, development, testing, implementation and tuning of database components using a specific DBMS and other related products.
