The Springfield Museums is seeking a Welcome Center Weekend Supervisor who will be responsible for opening, closing, and assisting in operations of the Welcome Center while supervising staff Saturdays and Sundays and an additional flexible day.

Duties will include but are not limited to the following:

On weekends and in the absence of the Welcome Center Manager and Group Tour Coordinator, open the Welcome Center ensuring that the registers are operational and the drawers are stocked with an appropriate amount of change and bills, ensure the Welcome Center is neat and accessible and ready to receive visitors. At the end of the day, close and secure the Welcome Center per protocol as assigned by the Welcome Center Manager and Group Tour Coordinator. Reconcile sales with cash register receipts, cash, check, charge slips, and gift certificates.

In the absence of the Welcome Center Manager and Group Tour Coordinator, responsible for supervising the Welcome Center staff. Provide direction and assistance as needed. If a problem arises and assistance is required, contact the Welcome Center Manager and Group Tour Coordinator first and the Director of Marketing and Communication Strategy second.

Operate the cash registers, performing such functions as ringing sales, issuing returns, issuing gift certificates, checking in groups, and selling/renewing memberships.

Ensure service is quick and efficient; visitor needs are met; complaints are resolved; and outstanding customer service is consistently provided. Intervene and de-escalate any disputes or concerns keeping in mind always excellent customer service.

Develop a thorough knowledge of the Altru software. Assist in training new staff.

Ensure that the Welcome Center is well maintained, surfaces are dusted, membership gifts are neatly arranged, the shelves are stocked with promotional pamphlets and maps, and the space appears attractive and inviting.

Seek assistance of the maintenance and security departments when needed, i.e., high volume days, special events and openings.

Perform other duties as requested by supervisor.

Qualifications include, but are not necessarily limited to:

An Associates Degree required. Three years of prior experience in the service industry with at least two years prior supervisory experience within a customer service environment essential. Superior customer service and communication skills; strong financial and analytical skills; thorough knowledge of computers programs including spreadsheet design and the ability to lift up to 30 pounds required. Bi-lingual in English and Spanish desirable. Saturday, Sunday, and occasional evening hours are required.
