Chemical Handler/Warehouse
Essential Functions:
Conduct loading and unloading of chemical products from trucks and/or trailers
Utilize proper storage procedures of chemical products in designated areas, bays, and/or racks
utilizing specialized material handling equipment and defined storage methods
Unload empty returnable containers from trucks and trailers, sort containers to be
reloaded on appropriate trailers for re-use or reconditioning
Assist in drumming of chemicals in compliance with standard operating procedures
Prepare chemical blends per defined instructions
Prepare empty containers for chemical filling
Prepare pallets for storage and/or transportation of product
Selection, preparation and staging of customer orders per customer requirements, such as lot
control numbers, additional stenciling or labeling requirements, packing and handling
requirements, sample delivery requirements, and/or QC requirements
Assist in loading of customer pick-ups, as required
Data entry functions and/or label printing, as required
Assist with general cleaning of product containers per defined instructions
Education, Experience and Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Knowledge of DOT Hazardous Material regulations relating to compatibility of chemicals in storage and shipping, preferred
Familiarity with DOT placard and labeling information, preferred
Knowledgeable in HazMat Emergency Training techniques
Knowledgeable in OSHA and general Safety regulations/instructions/procedures
Experience with reading and interpreting Bills of Lading/Manifest, SDS sheets, Certification of Analysis
Experience in utilizing various material handling equipment
Computer literate (Beginner level, as a minimum)
Chemical, warehouse and/or distribution background, preferred
MUST hold valid Drivers’ License
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly required to stand, walk, sit, and move; constantly operate equipment such as pallet jacks, fork truck, handle and storage of hoses, cables and containers, climb ladders and occasional use of copy machine, computer, printers and telephone. The employee must regularly lift, move or transport up to 80-100 pounds. Must be able to tolerate working in outside elements.
