Machinist/Tool Maker

1st Shift - 7am - 3:30pm

Position

Reporting to the Stamping/Tool Room Manager, the Machinist/Tool Maker sets up and operates conventional and special purpose machines and machining centers to fabricate metallic and non-metallic parts. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, extremely thorough, organized and have the ability to multi-task.

Responsibilities

Promote Safety as the Number 1 priority of all employees.

Fabricate thread roll and cold heading dies used in our manufacturing process.

Diagnose, service & repair progressive stamping dies used in our manufacturing process.

Determine necessary dimensions and tolerances required from sequence of operations and finished work.

Use blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications and sample parts to produce tools and dies to performance and product specifications.

Set up and operate metal working machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders.

Evaluate manufacturing procedures and recommend tool and die improvements.

Resolve machining or assembly problems as necessary.

Produce experimental tooling, parts and fixturing as required.

Perform other tasks as necessary.

Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent.

Minimum of 3 years experience working in a machinist and/or tool making capacity, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

Process-oriented with strong analytical and basic math skills.

Self-directed with the ability to work individually or in a team environment.

Ability to solve practical problems and prioritize workloads.

Strong communication skills “ both written and verbal.

Ability to walk, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance; and regularly lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.

Good close vision and depth perception skills.
