Summary of Position: The main point person at the assigned program(s) for fundraising and external communications. Coordinates and manages designated day-to-day communications from the program; as well as special projects and fundraising and outreach events. Works with the program board of directors, established committees, and the Development and Communications Director to plan, implement and manage projects, events and fundraisers; maintains donation data base and files; supervises assigned staff/consultants/volunteers; develops partnerships with local community groups; manages grant initiatives, in compliance with The Association, the program, and governing agencies' policies, procedures and regulations. This position requires flexibility to include evening meetings and occasional weekend events. 1. Manages projects/events /grants/ annual appeals in collaboration with staff, consultants and/or in partnership with other agencies, programs, and departments of the Association. 2. Assists in managing the programs' resource center including the database, files and website. 3. Oversees design, editing and mailing of newsletters, emails, flyers, invitations, conference and event programs, fundraising, and other external communication output related in these areas. 4. Manages the planning and implementation of conferences, fundraisers, awareness events, e-commerce activities, annual appeal mailings, and workshops. If required, serves as chair or co-chair of events committees. Facilitates the work of teams to achieve goals, including fundraising goals set by Director of Development and Communication and the Board of Directors. 5. Evaluates requests for fundraisers from outside parties; Makes recommendations to Director and /or Fundraising Committee. 6. Represents the program(s) at outreach and awareness activities. 7. Serves on the Director's management team for the program(s). 8. Ensure proper supervision - coordinate the selection and training and provide input on work of staff/consultants and assign volunteers as to specific project event objectives. Follow organization policy and procedures, methods and practices and other matters impacting the work of the program. 9. Responsible for completion of evaluations and cost analyses of events, reviewing data and making recommendations based on information gathered. 10. Maintain liaison with foundations, donors, local businesses, community organizations and other funders as needed. Interacts with the public and is responsible for carrying out operational procedures that ensure public safety, appropriate handling of funds and responsiveness to customer service needs. 11. Liaison with other program advisory groups or external groups as assigned. 12. Keeps records up to date; complete information forms/spreadsheets required to document events and projects. Maintains applicable databases, acknowledges donations and handles correspondence. Contributes to programs' and Association's newsletters. 13. Performs other similar duties required by responsibility or necessity or as requested by the Director. Position Specifications Position Title: Development and Communications CoordinatorKnowledge and Experience Required: 1. Bachelor's degree. 2. 3-5 years of direct experience working in communications and fundraising including planning, budgeting, tracking with demonstrated ability to work independently. 3. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation/vehicle. Skills and Abilities Required: 1. Must be able to maintain regular attendance.2. Strong writing and oral communication skills.3. Able to handle multiple tasks and responsibilities, bringing all in on deadline.4. Skilled at relationship building, both inside the organization and in the community.5. Advanced skills in Word, desktop publishing software, photo and video editing software. Knowledge Microsoft Excel, and database management.6. Work with confidential data that, if disclosed, could have significant internal effect or minor external effect. 7. Outside and/or inside contacts involving carrying out organization policy or programs and influencing others where improper handling will have a marked effect on results. Considerable tact required. 8. Wide variety of duties requiring a general knowledge of related organizational policies and procedures and their application to cases not previously covered. Duties require considerable judgment to work independently toward general results, to devise new or modify existing methods, techniques or procedures to meet requirements and to make related decisions controlled by precedent and within limits of established policy.
