One-on-one support worker/mentor (Ludlow)

Looking for a reliable, experienced one-on-one support staff (male or female) to work 15-20 hours per week with a 27-year old young man with Down Syndrome in Ludlow. Responsibilities would include:

assist in doing community-based activities - volunteering in the community,

independent living skills: telephone skills, shopping, cooking, ironing,

working on math skills, banking and checkbook skills,

reading/comprehension skills,

going to the gym,

speech and language skills,

writing and grammar skills

writing summaries of Red Sox games

The Support Worker should be friendly, compassionate, patient, understanding, energetic and sports-minded, between 22 and 35 years old. The 15-plus hours can be split among the following days and times: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday 8:30 am to 2 pm (sometimes till 3pm), Friday, 8:30 to 1 or 2pm. Cori check, driver's license, good-standing driving record and reliable transportation. Pay: $15-$17/hour. Start time would be ASAP.
