The "Envision Success Project" is a unique career exploration program for youth age 14-22 who are legally blind. They visit businesses, colleges, and other places they potentially may want to work, hear from guest speakers, and participate in paid internships to gain work experience. We are looking for a few more people to add to our team, who would be occasionally available to help drive participants to the tour/workshop and help them if needed to get into the tour site or conference room ("sighted guide" training provided), then from the tour site to the restaurant and then from the restaurant to home. Average length of work "assignment" about 4-6 hours, primarily after school and occasionally on weekends. In typical months we do 2-4 tours/classes but we are reaching out to have several assistants who can potentially cover each tour (e.g., you would not be expected to be available for every one, though preference in assistant selection will be given to those with the most potential availability). Some students may also need support getting to and from summer internships as well. Excellent opportunity for Human Service graduate students or TVI consultants with a flexible schedule. Students are from the greater Springfield area and most tours are in the Springfield area but sometimes go east to Worcester and very occasionally might go to metrowest/Boston. Reliable vehicle and clean driving and criminal background a must, experience with working with youth/people who are legally blind a plus.
