Solidus is looking for a Software Engineer to develop, integrate and test high-performance modular software components for radar control, radar signal processing, display and electronic warfare simulation, within a DDS publish/subscribe messaging architecture. The engineer will join a team that develops and maintains analysis, simulation and control and signal processing software, as part of its emphasis on space surveillance.

Candidates must be enthusiastic, innovative and motivated self-starters able to work independently, or with a group, to achieve program requirements. They must possess strong oral and written communications skills, and must be able to present findings/results to internal and external organizations.

Responsibilities:
- Integrate, test, develop, troubleshoot, evaluate, maintain and document modular software functionality within an existing ROSA2 publish-subscribe framework utilizing modern software engineering techniques, open source programming tools, and Laboratory-specific support processes
- Optimize code latency and throughput on high-performance computing platforms for real-time, distributed data collection and signal processing applications
- Collaborate, develop and manage software products through effective use of version control and automated regression testing software
- Organize multiple assignments to meet aggressive schedules with high-quality products
- Evaluate and propose use of open source and commercial software, frameworks, libraries and tools where applicable
- Provide system administration for both Linux operating systems, including remote and virtual capabilities
- Work independently and in small groups with frequent (daily) peer interaction and less frequent (weekly) supervision.

Required skills:
- ship and an Active Secret Clearance
- PhD plus 5 years minimum experience, or MS plus 8 years minimum experience. BS plus 11 years minimum direct experience may be substituted.
- 10+ years direct experience with software integration, test and debugging
- C/C, JAVA, Python
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux (v6 and v7), Windows Enterprise 10
- Open Management Group Data Distribution Service, shared memory, TCP/IP
- x86 multithread, multicore, multiprocessor servers and workstations
- Strong configuration management experience for large software projects
- Strong verification and release management experience for bi-weekly to monthly builds
- Demonstrated expertise in communicating with management and sponsors
- Effective and efficient organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple simultaneous tasks, solve complex system problems and resolve interpersonal conflicts.
- Ability to define tasks and procedures to achieve high level goals and milestones, in coordination with peers and supervisors
- Detailed understanding of air surveillance radar and phased array signal processing concepts, detection and tracking operation, and electronic warfare effects

Preferred skills:
- Active Top Secret Clearance
- Experience with automated software regression test tools and techniques
- Ability to develop, use and maintain custom automated verification and calibration software
- Experience with JSON, XML, IDL, and related tools
- Technical understanding of and the ability to install, manage, and maintain Windows and Linux based systems, including the use of third party software libraries (e.g., Boost, Python)
- Experience with MySQL database design and query
- Open Systems Architecture component design principles and implementation
- Understanding of continuous integration software suites such as Jenkins
- Demonstrated ability to document system operation and use
