Kelly Services is looking for an Associate Scientist in Biologics Manufacturing Science in Worcester, MAThis is a 6 month contract with possible extensionPay Rate Range 23-24/hrDescription:We are seeking a highly motivated Associate Scientist/Engineer to join our group in the Operations Science and Technology Biologics Manufacturing Sciences department based in Worcester, MA. Our group leads process optimization, technology transfer, scale-up, and validation activities for late-stage and commercial manufacturing of therapeutic proteins and ADCs and third parties, with a focus on conjugation and downstream purification. The group also has primary technical responsibility for process monitoring, trouble-shooting, and continuous improvement of the at-scale processes, both within our facility and throughout our global network.The candidate will work in a dynamic team environment to support our late-stage and commercial manufacturing programs, through both laboratory studies as well as data trending and analysis.Comprehensive understanding of protein chemistry and manufacturing processes, as well as hands-on experience working in the lab is required. Good writing and data analysis skills are required. The position necessitates extensive interaction with manufacturing, quality, purification and analytical development. The candidate should be independently motivated and possess strong written, oral, and collaborative skills in order to effectively communicate scientific information to team members.Key Responsibilities Include : Supporting the evaluation and development of innovative technologies within the field of biologics, ADC conjugation, and downstream processing to improve process efficiency, robustness and product quality Supporting the scaling up of successful lab studies to pilot scale and subsequently to manufacturing scale qualification, validation and implementation. Providing technical support to late clinical stage and commercial biologics manufacturing processes Applying GMP and GLP principles to all aspects of work and documentation Data gathering and trending Authoring technical reports and validation documents Presenting scientific and technical work internallyRequirements and notes1) What hours and days will this person be working? 40hours/week during M-F, typically 8-5 with breaks2) What are the top 5 skills/requirements this person is required have?a. Laboratory – buffer preparation, aliquoting, dilutionb. Laboratory – downstream purification, e.g. using AKTA for chromatography, TFF systemsc. Laboratory – good documentation practices, including following instructions and documenting in electronic notebookd. Data analysis - use Excel to record data and perform analysise. Familiarity with biological production: unit operations, GMP awareness3) What years of experience, education, and/or certification is required? Bachelor’s Degree4) What is a nice to have (but not required) regarding skills, requirements, experience, education, or certification? Nice to have: experience with ADC (antibody drug conjugates)5) What is the environment that this person will be working in (i.e. group setting vs individual role)? Individual contributor within the group setting. Would have one supervisor, but is expected to interact with numerous others6) Is any testing required for this role? Testing of the contractor? no7) Does this position offer the ability to work remotely on a regular basis or is it an on-site role?
