SUPPORTER ROLE (R3 Grant Project)
Location - Central Mass (Milford-Worcester) Supporter Role (R3 Grant Project)
Your Supporter Role: To assist and support a Self-Advocate Consultant so that they can fully participate in the R3 Project.
What is a Self-Advocate Consultant? A Self-Advocate Consultant is an individual with ID/DD advocating for people with disabilities through their personal lived experience and knowledge of the subject matter. The SA Consultant provides leadership and advice to the R3 Advisory Committee on developing, testing and promoting new technology to make reporting abuse easier for persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
The SA Consultant will also assist in evaluating the progress and features of the prototype being built.
The SA Consultant will be working with other self-advocates, MASS staff, Worcester Polytechnic Institute Staff & students, DPPC staff and others.
The SA Consultant plays an important role in every step of this project to be sure that the plans of the R3 group reflect the needs and voices of persons with disabilities. You will be supporting them in sharing their expertise and representing the interests of MASS members.
You will be expected to:
Communicate directly with SA Consultant and meet with them at mutually agreed upon times to support the work of the project
Prepare for and attend monthly R3 meetings and small group meetings
Assist SA Consultant in checking and responding to R3 project emails
Assist SA Consultant in updating monthly calendar of meetings, trainings, data collection, timesheet submittals and other grant activities. May involve some SA Consultant transportation and/or assistance with coordinating transportation depending on the need.
We are seeking supporters who:
Are friendly, responsible, committed, flexible & reliable
Are comfortable taking direction from Self-Advocate Consultants
Are able to provide transportation if needed, and/or help the SA Consultant coordinate transportation to the meetings
Will support SA Consultant to share their opinions with R3 advisory committee members
Will review materials and assist SA Consultant to be prepared to take part in R3 meetings
Will work as part of team
Are okay talking about the issue of abuse
Are committed to the project, which will run for three years
Will attend monthly R3 committee meetings
Will attend focus group meetings
Will submit paperwork on time
Are responsible to work within the budgeted hours for project or get prior approval from your supervisor if needed.
Location: Central Mass (Milford-Worcester)
Hours: 3-5 hours per week or 25 hours per month
Compensation: $14.00 per hour
Report to: Self-Advocate Consultant and MASS Project Coordinator
