SUMMARY OF POSITION The Buyer is responsible for purchasing production materials/supplies, office supplies and services for the company in an efficient and economical manner following established policies and procedures in processing purchase orders.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
Follows company policies and procedures for the purchase of materials/supplies and services.
Maintains and reviews computerized or manual records of items purchased, costs, deliveries, product and supplier performance, and inventories.
Reviews catalogs, industry periodicals, directories, trade journals, and Internet sites and consults with other department personnel to locate necessary goods and services
Works with senior employees to select vendors based on price, capability, and past performance following departmental guidelines.
May negotiate cash discounts, volume purchasing discounts, and OEM pricing, etc.
Prepares purchase orders, solicits bid proposals, and reviews requisitions for materials/supplies and services.
Confers with staff, users, and vendors to discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services and determines corrective action.
Implements purchase contracts that comply with company standards.
Perform tasks in M2M related to purchasing activities, i.e. item master, purchase orders, vendors, purchasing reports, RFQ.
Ensures quality and compliance by adhering to all procedures, work instructions, and forms per the Quality Management Systems (QMS).

CERTIFICATIONS Certified Project Manager (CPM) - International Association for Project and Program Management (APPM), Production and Inventory Management Certification (CPIM) - Delaware Technical Community College

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This job operates in a manufacturing environment. This role routinely moves about the facility to check-up on team members' progress and frequently operates a computer or other machinery as required.
Ability to work flexible work schedule as required to meet the demands of the business.
Constantly works at a computer.
Regularly walks around the shop floor.
Occasionally lifts up to 35-50lb
Occasionally travels to other Orchid site and/or vendor or customer locations.
Able to work in a fast-paced quality -oriented manufacturing environment.
Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as determined for the position.
