Steering gear and rack and pinion trainee needed. We will train you, but reasonable mechanical aptitude and knowledge of hand tools is needed. The job requires the ability to lift 35 lbs. Daily duties after a training period will include the steps for remanufacturing rack and pinion steering gears at our facility on the southeast side of Ann Arbor. These steps include the teardown, degreasing, shaft prep, re-sealing and re-assembly of the units. You'll also be involved in a team that does the final preparation of the units with tie rod attachment, final inspections, and painting prior to shipment from our facility.
Some minimal computer familiarity needed. Hours are from 8 to 5PM, Monday through Friday. Benefits include paid vacation and holidays, and paid educational opportunities at Washtenaw Community College.
