Seeking a full-time Marine Mechanic ASAP

Who we are:
Northport Boat Yard, located on Lake Michigan's Grand Traverse Bay, has been offering professional marine services since 1965. We are conveniently located within cruising distance from some of the most popular cruising ports in northern Michigan. Our marine service yard offers heated and unheated storage facilities, along with accommodations for outdoor mast-up sailboat storage. In addition to our 77 ton marine travel lift, we also have a 40 ton self-propelled Con-O-Lift hydraulic trailer, a 20 ton Con-O-Lift hydraulic trailer, a 20 ton hoist, and crane and forklifts. Our yard can service and store boats from 13 feet to 70 feet in length. We pride ourselves on offering competitive, quality service for both power and sailboats.
Northport Boat Yard is owned and operated by KAM Marine. We have two sister marinas, which are located in Detroit, Michigan - Kam Marine on Clairpointe and Kam Marine on Jefferson.
Job duties include, but are not limited to:
- Troubleshooting and inspecting motors to locate defective parts.
- Operating boats to conduct operational tests.
- Starting motors and monitoring performance for signs of malfunction (e.g., smoke, excessive vibration, misfiring).
- Adjusting carburetor mixtures, electrical point settings, or timing while motors are running in water-filled test tanks.
- Repairing engine mechanical equipment (e.g., power tilts, bilge pumps, power take-offs).
- Servicing marine drivelines.
The ideal candidate is certified, has a good working knowledge of boat systems, enjoys working outside, familiar with computers and diagnostic equipment, able to stand for long periods of time, able to lift heavy objects, and has a clear understanding of marine engines/components.
This is a year-round position.
