And we just so happen to be seeking a 2 nd and 3 rd shift Plastics Supervisor to work at Stanley Black & Decker in Chesterfield, MI.Positions are temp to hire paying $28/hr, working Monday-Friday.2 nd and 3 rd shift available:2nd shift 3pm - 11pm3rd shift 11pm - 7amOT as neededBasic Purpose and Objective:The Shift Supervisor is a key leader supporting the plastics site and team in planning and driving plant execution. Main focus of the role will be leading all shift related activities related to employee supervision and guidance, activities including all equipment, material, production. This position requires an excellent understanding of the plastic injection molding process.Specific Duties & Responsibilities:Maintains production records for production counts and standard hours.
Enforces safe working environments and activities.
Supervises all employees in the manufacturing and assembly area.
Owns responsibility for plant security.
Recommends disciplinary action for all production personnel.
Responsible for adhering/enforcing to all company rules: UAW contract, TS16949, Quality guidelines, and HR published procedures.
Owns responsibility for production runs, proper die setting procedures, quality of product and maximizing the production area's full potential.
Reports immediately to the Plant Manager any difficulties arising due to conditions of machines or employee actions.
Sets up and assign personnel to specific jobs according to scheduling requirements.
Ensures availability of component parts and supplies.
Ensures proper installation of safety equipment and that safety regulations are adhered to.
Troubleshoots manufacturing and assembly problems and rectify accordingly.
Ensures that housekeeping is maintained within assigned area of responsibility.
Analyzes and submit operational and/or cost savings recommendations as is feasible.
Maintains efficiency levels at an optimum level and explain deviations from expected levels.
Responsible for continuous improvement within the department.
Provides prompt, accurate documentation of machine, material or tooling problems to appropriate functional area for resolution.
Takes a proactive approach to ensure working/processing environment meets level of expectations at all times and reports discrepancies, i.e. housekeeping, machine condition, material, tooling and personnel competence.
Education Preferred:Associates degree.
Experience Required:Minimum of one (1) year of experience in plastic injection molding plant or automotive related industry.
At least three (3) years of direct supervisory experience.
Experience Preferred:At least one (1) year of experience in mold set-up, troubleshooting, exposure to maintenance problems, and familiarity with state-of-the-art controls and engineering resins.
Knowledge of plastic material properties/processes, and statistical methods.
Specialized foreman training and management courses.
Formal RJG training.
Continuous Improvement training.
Required Qualifications:Ability to work a full-time flexible schedule, including some early morning, overnight and weekend shifts, to work overtime as needed, and to respond to urgent issues at the plant when they arise.
