Position DescriptionThis role supports accounting and reporting for Ally's growing automotive insurance business and is instrumental in the month-end and quarter-end close and reporting processes.Job Responsibilities
Prepare Canadian P&C Regulatory Financial Statements and IFRS Disclosures and various other regulatory filings
Prepare monthly journal entries and account reconciliations
Prepare and process Canadian Premium tax returns
Work with the appointed actuary to support the annual opinion
Support various tax returns and communications related to the returns
Communicate and coordinate with various teams to meet objectives
Assist with Canadian Regulatory Examinations
Support annual external audit
Work to continually improve efficiencies and controls of existing process
Qualifications
BS/BBA degree in Accounting/Finance or related field required
CPA preferred
Preferred 2+ years previous work experience in Accounting or related field
Ability to drive change and initiate process improvements
Attention to detail balanced with knowing the right level necessary to deliver on requirements
Energetic and inquisitive, quick learner, takes initiative
Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal
Ability to organize data, perform independent analysis and provide explanations to management
Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional matrix environment
Insurance knowledge preferred, but not required
SAP experience preferred
Advanced MS Excel (pivot tables, v-lookups, ect.) preferred
Required: Bachelor Degree, Masters desired.
