DescriptionUnder general supervision, performs moderately complex and semi-specialized clerical support duties; may supervise other clerical employees.Examples of Duties

Types from rough draft important and/or confidential correspondence and reports.

Assembles data and information and enters into defined tabular format.

Determines the pertinence, adequacy, arrangement and form of reports or correspondence requiring familiarity with departmental rules, policies and procedures.

Proos and checks accuracy of work.

Determines classification of material for filing.

Performs filing of correspondence, records and reports.

Maintains records in databases, spreadsheets and logs, requiring knowledge of departmental practices and procedures.

Maintains confidential records and files.

Schedules appointments and maintains calendars.

Issues licenses and permits, determining eligibility through verifying documentation.

Accepts payments and issues receipts.

Screens telephone calls and visitors and assists with nontechnical inquiries

Plans, schedules and reviews work of subordinates.

Supervises group of clerical employees.

Procures and monitors inventory of office materials and supplies.

Minimum QualificationsHigh School graduation or GED with courses in typing, keyboarding, word processing and office management or business related subjects.Two years of recent office experience performing moderately complex clerical and office work, preferably in a City department.Supplemental InformationKNOWLEDGE OF:

Office work, terms and equipment.

Standard document formats and English usage in business correspondence.

Standard office database and spreadsheet software.

Typing with speed and accuracy.

Recording and transcribing with speed and accuracy.
