Charlotte, NC - 100% remote for now, then will sit on-site in Charlotte, NC when staff transitions back into the office after October
WHAT YOU WILL DO
The Data Systems Engineer will be an active member of the data strategy / interface team on the HR Technology Transformation Program, working with a System Integrator, Data Architects, and data experts. The scope of this role includes data conversion, historical data migrations, data cleansing, quality checks, ETL processing, etc. The ideal candidate will be able to work with a Cloud-based HCM solution and partner with the Enterprise Data Architecture team to identify, transform, load, and present critical HR data for analytics /reporting via a data lake.
Proactively become an expert in current and future HR business processes / technology products
Execute on the HCM data and integration strategy?
Serve as a knowledge source for converting data from legacy systems into the new HCM system
Provide creative technology solutions utilizing sound investigative / troubleshooting skills and analysis
Convert Data into the HCM with applicable loading tools
Create ETL scripts to transform and load data in preparation to load to the HCM
Lead in the validation of data loaded into the HCM
Map legacy data, identify data quality issues
Execute reporting & analytics using BI tools with a sound understanding of metrics / data being analyzed
Execute data management / design, interface development / monitoring; knowledge of and experience with various database concepts and technologies, such as Oracle, SQL Server and reporting tools
Maintain working knowledge and documentation of system / technical integration (batch, real-time); knowledge of SFTP, PGP encryption, ssh; knowledge of web-service calls using SOAP, REST, xml, json.
Provide data experience in end-to-end design and development of near-real time and batch data pipelines
Understand data lake and data warehouse solutions on Snowflake and AWS using streaming and batch processes
Develop test strategies, software testing frameworks, and test automation. Performs unit and systems integration testing as defined in the Program Data Strategy plan
Leverage DevSecOps techniques and have working experience with modern tools such as GitLab, Jira, Jenkins and build automation
Engage in application design and potentially data modeling discussions; participate in developing and enforcing data security policies
Communicate project status and collaborate with a System Integrator to successfully deliver on shared objectives?and meet program deadlines
Closely?follow the strategic direction?set by leadership when establishing project goals
Timely identification and escalation of risks and development of alternative technical and functional approaches when necessary
Thought leadership to identify process improvements and changes based on project experience
Embrace Agile principles and perform work in an Agile / Kanban team structure
HOW YOU ARE QUALIFIED:
A Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Minimum 3 years' experience in field of data engineering involving data conversion and building data integration solutions or data warehouse environments such as AWS, Snowflake, Oracle, etc.
Previous experience handling HR data or HR System software (such as Workday or SAP SuccessFactors)
Extensive knowledge and experience in data transformations, cleansing, de-duplication, data analysis, manipulation, reporting and formatting
Expert knowledge of tuning SQL queries, ETL process for optimal performance
Hands on experience building data flows using DevOps pipelines and automation
Excellent leadership skills and ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Advanced proficiency in MS Office software
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including demonstrated facilitation skills
