Job Description

The Cost Accountant / Senior Financial Analyst will work closely with the Ride Control GM and its Controller and is primarily responsible for financial support for the Farmington Hills Headquarters and Technical Center and the Oklahoma distribution center. Key responsibilities include supporting US operations, preparation of financial statements and monthly close, financial lead for product cost development and program accounting, financial support for decision makers, assisting in budget and forecast preparation, and variance analysis.

Principle Responsibilities

  • Work with GM and other operational teams in achieving financial and operational results, product margin analysis, new product costing and margin initiatives, etc.
  • Lead forecast and budget process by preparing budget templates in partnership with department heads and other stakeholders.
  • Develop and enforce product costing processes from raw material standards through manufacturing.
  • Manage the periodic cost rolls within the system, reviewing and verifying the data, developing analytical checks to verify data integrity before and after system load.
  • Track costs and identify trends within product family down to the raw material and manufacturing standards.
  • Responsible for monthly close journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Support and direct the normal US entity monthly close process.
  • Ensure balance sheet accounts are reconciled and accurate.
  • Perform net working capital calculations, developing and reporting key financial KPI’s.
  • Manage Business Unit’s operating expenses and capital plan to budget.
  • Support purchasing function in component cost impacts by commodity cost changes.
  • Work with Sales team to track sales and margins by customer/channel while working to identify trends.
  • Assist in the preparation of long-term financial forecasts of revenues and expenditures.
  • Support yearly audit, working with MATH team and external auditors
  • Take on special projects as needed.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • MBA, CPA, and/or CMA preferred
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing environment requiring cost accounting, product costing, program accounting methods, etc.
  • Six to eight years finance experience with a combination of public accounting (2-4 years) and manufacturing company experience strongly preferred
  • MS Office Suite, including advanced Excel skills
  • SAP experience highly desirable, automotive industryexperience a plus
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment, taking initiative and working independently
