Curriculum Designer (Grand Rapids MI)

Vacancy expired!

I am an author of a book on spirituality called "Blinded by Normalcy: What is Life Anyways?" (amazon). This is a book that seeks to liberate individuals from the systems of thought (social, economic, political, religious, corporate-speak, advertising, ad nauseam) that prevent one from living an authentic life from one's heart of desire. This is a book about gaining genuine spiritual freedom in order to live one's life abundantly and without compromise. The mission of my book and my organization is built on two ultimate truths: your contributions and your community that supports your contributions.

I am seeking a curriculum designer to work very closely with a freelance illustrator on a companion workbook to my book. The workbook will mimic the twelve chapter format and will have reflection units and actionable exercises for each themed chapter. The curriculum developer will become intimately familiar with the book and develop her/his key points, takeaways, reflection exercises, and actionable exercises toward personal and spiritual growth. I would like to plan meetings after every ten hour block for planning, coordination, and shared insights on the project.

The workbook may have between 60-120 pages in total including the illustrator's work. This is, of course, at your artistic and creative discretion. These workbooks will be sold in a combination with the soft cover book and an audio book. These workbooks are envisioned to be used in small group home settings and will be used as a means of advancing individuals into full membership within our association. Again, the goal of the workbook (as it reflects the book) is to liberate individuals from all systems of thought in order to pursue a genuine, authentic spiritual life manifesting in a moment-by-moment life in the Spirit and uncompromisingly from one's heart of desire. This is not a religious workbook and does not reflect any religious views, east or west. This book does rely on a God figure and does reference occasional biblical and other sacred literature.

I am a grad student drop-out from Chicago Theological Seminary. It wasn't my grades. I had a 4.0 GPA. It was what religion always does in the power dynamic of "those who know" and those "who don't". Those are emphatically within quotes because we both know neither description is accurate. Maybe it's even backward? I attended grad school with persons of all backgrounds and I encourage the same to submit a few examples of your curriculum development contributions and a few of your community of your contributions that rave about your work! Rate of pay is $20 per hour with bonuses for mutually agreeable metrics/milestones on the workbook development. I would like to meet with you after every ten hour block both for compensation and for bonus potential. Please be willing to work consultatively and frequently shoulder-to-shoulder in-person after each ten hour block.

I hope this will be a fun, engaging, and rewarding project for you. It may lead to additional opportunities within our non-profit organization. I look forward to working with you.
