Job Description

Senior Services of Southwest Michigan is seeking to fill a full-time (37.5 hours per week) food service worker position to work in our kitchen at the Senior Services, Inc.in Kalamazoo, MI. The food service worker will package, distribute and serve safe, appealing meals for senior nutrition program and catered clients, will assist lead cook in monitoring food quality and food handling practices, assist with maintaining cleanliness and organization of the food service environment, in addition to assisting with food production, set-up, service, and cleanup of catered events.

  • This position is a full-time, non-exempt position offering the following benefits: health, dental, vision, 403(b) retirement matching, paid time off (3 weeks in the 1st year) and other employee-based assistance programs.
  • This position is Monday-Friday – no nights or weekends

Qualifications

This position requires: Ability to lift and push loads up to 60 pounds, stand for long periods of time, bend, stoop, and reach; ability to perform simple math functions, including counting, adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing, and the ability to read at a 12th grade level. Must have teamwork and service attitude, with the ability to adapt to changing work environment as needed. Candidate must also have ability to pass food management certification class and receive certification. The food service worker may perform a variety of food service tasks in the areas of meal assembly and service, dish washing, sanitation and safety.
