As a Staff Accountant, you will prepare journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation. During the monthly close, you'll have responsibility over many aspects of internal reporting. In addition, you will participate in compliance, interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules for the reporting processes. The majority of time spent in this position involves producing Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. This Kalamazoo, Michigan based firm has a long-term temporary position available, and offers an innovative work environment where effort is rewarded.How you will make an impact
Ad-hoc tasks and special projects, as needed
Aid in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Maintain intricate journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll
Assist in monthly financial close workbook preparation, including annual closing process
Offer succinct analysis on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a clear and concise manner
Prepare monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for management reporting
Take part in various department-wide initiatives
Complete month end close, journal entries, without supervision
Manage capital lease and monthly payment schedules
Support fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
Requirements
Experience working in a dynamic and changing company environment a plus
Self-starter with efficient time management and organizational skills
ERP system experience
Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Outstanding organizational, written and verbal communication skills required
High attention to detail and possesses excellent organizational and writing skills
Demonstrated ability in strong analytical, quantitative and social skills
Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines
Reconciliations experience preferred
General ledger experience desired
Strong familiarity with Accounts Receivable (AR)
Command of Accounts Payable (AP)
Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases
2+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience
