Communications Technician
Company is based in Howell, does work all through out metro detroit, ann arbor, lansing, flint and grand rapids areas.
This position is for the Installation of new communication cabling in new or existing buildings.
This is a full time position. Some out of state travel, night and weekend flexibility is required.
Hours: Approximately 40-50 hours per week.
Application requirements: Minimum of a high school diploma required. Associate's degree or related discipline OR graduation from an accredited technical school is highly desirable
Valid driver's license, clean driving record and ability to safely operate a motor vehicle
The ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen
Effective verbal and written English communication skills
Ability to think logically and problem-solve
Proficient in using both power and hand tools
Primary Job Functions:
-Perform light construction necessary for running new cable
- Physically mount end-unit devices such as access points, switches or wall racks.
-Cable Types: CAT 5e, CAT 6, Fiber Optics and Coaxial RG-6/59 cable. Includes terminating, testing and labeling. General construction knowledge is highly desirable.
-Professional Skills:
-Knowledge of structured cabling or electrical wiring
-Familiarity with building construction and construction tool use
-Must know 4pr/25pr color codes
Other Requirements/Qualifications:
-Must be able to travel to work sites independently
- Physically able to lift materials up to 50 lbs repeatedly, climb and work for extended periods on ladders, and otherwise perform the physical tasks required for high ceiling and wall cable installation.
