We provide integrated, affordable and quality primary medical, dental and behavioral health care to vulnerable populations of Oakland County, regardless of ability to pay.Job Description: Reporting to the Manager, Clinical Services/Coordinator, Clinical Services, the full time, non-exempt Medical Assistant Title X is an essential member of a high performing healthcare team providing direct and indirect patient care, assisting HONOR COMMUNITY HEALTH clinicians, completing general office duties, managing and maintaining patient records in the HONOR COMMUNITY HEALTH EMR systems, taking and recording patient vitals, performing laboratory tests and assisting with procedures as necessary. All assignments will be conducted while adhering to HONOR COMMUNITY HEALTH policies and procedures and carrying out and monitoring a wide range of clinical processes. The Medical Assistant Title X will maintain strong internal and external relationships, serving as liaison on behalf of HONOR COMMUNITY HEALTH. Attends meetings as requested as well as completing documentation and processing a variety of forms and records. Works collaboratively to create and maintain a culture of excellence and dedication to providing compassionate and high quality health care to residents and the community. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Provides assistance to HONOR COMMUNITY HEALTH clinicians with patient care, completes and records the following types of tasks: Patient vital signs, Spirometry readings, perform EKG?s, administer injections and immunizations, other procedures, draw blood and obtain other lab specimens and render basic first aid or CPR when necessary.

Maintains excellence while performing all duties, following guidelines, procedures, and protocols as set by the Medical Director, Director of Clinical Services, and Title X programming requirements.`

Rooms patients following site workflow protocol. Set up and clean patient room immediately following patient visit following protocol.

In collaboration with the manager/supervisor, assists with facilitating efficient and timely patient visits.

May be responsible for direct patient communication regarding: future appointments, hospital admissions, referral appointments and pharmacy refills.

Follows proper procedure for disinfecting of patient rooms and sterilization of equipment, to ensure patient safety.

Follows Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) waived testing, adhering to standards and perform controls as required by policy.

Answers patient questions or act as an advocate by directing them to the proper resources whether in person or over the phone.

Ensures patients have necessary prescriptions, refills, referrals, and follow up appointments at each visit.

Assists in the gathering of information for both internal and external audits, with specific focus on Title X required audits.

Monitors Title X supplies ensuring adequate levels are maintained for clinic area and patient rooms are stocked appropriately.

Works well in a fast paced clinic setting maintaining the flexibility necessary to meet HONOR COMMUNITY HEALTH?s changing patient needs and workflow.

Follows standards for scope of practice/role and functions effectively within it.

Assist with internal and external referral process as well as processing of medical records requests and tracking of such.

Follows Title X regulations and requirements, with regard to documentation, using appropriate Next Gen templates capturing necessary data points.

Is thoroughly familiar and comfortable with medication administration with specific focus on family planning and STI treatment medications ordered by the clinician.

Completes and documents Title X patient education requirements within Medical Assistant scope of work.

QUALIFICATIONS:EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent is required. Completion of a technical program for medical assisting required. EXPERIENCE: A minimum of two or more years in a similar clinical position preferred. Strong leadership, computer skills and experience using Electronic Medical Records and knowledge of Microsoft Office and internet preferred. Experience working in a healthcare environment (OB/GYN preferred) and experience with Federally Qualified Health Centers is highly desired.LICENSURES: Certified Medical Assistant.
