  • Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI)\'s Regulation & Certification Department is currently seeking a Vehicle Emission Regulatory Professional for the Emission Certification & Regulation Team at our Superior Township, MI facility just east of Ann Arbor. HATCI\'s Regulation & Certification Department helps support Hyundai and Kia vehicles to meet changing safety, environmental, and emissions standards at the federal, state, and local levels. Regulatory professionals research & analyze future regulatory trends to recommend internal action, guide the direction of company research, and help to develop a policy for public positions. They also address issues related to these standards and communicate with agencies such as the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), California Air Resource Board (CARB), National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR) and U.S. Customs. Job Description: Follow Federal and State regulatory emissions activities and provide related analysis, comments, and guidance to Hyundai Motor Group (HMG) affiliates. Monitor upcoming Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and California Air Resources Board (CARB) research and regulatory initiatives through participation in industry and government meetings and committees, as well as through frequent contact with government representatives, other companies, and trade associations. Prepare corporate positions and written comments in response to regulatory actions by gathering and coordinating input from R&D and HMG-affiliated companies. Prepare reports on an ongoing basis addressing upcoming regulations and summaries of published regulatory actions with recommendations for action. Keep abreast of, and distribute, information on environmental trends, technologies, and upcoming requirements to related R&D staff through meetings, presentations, and other media on a regular basis. Provide guidance to R&D on the appropriate action in response to regulatory initiatives. Respond to government inquiries relating to future environmental regulatory requirements. Provide interpretations on recently published proposals or regulations. Serve as a corporate representative on the environment subcommittees of our industry trade association, Alliance for Automotive Innovation (AFAI). Prepare bi-weekly, quarterly, and yearly summaries of environmental activity. Create and present technical reports and perform additional functions as assigned. Coordinate with Canadian, or other market, counterparts as necessary. Traveling up to 30% of the time domestically and internationally is possible.   • Our Team Advanced Engineering Lab. (AEL) is an engineering group at HATCI that focuses on advanced technology research and development that can be applied to current/future production vehicles and future mobility. AEL covers a wide range of areas from the development of new vehicle concepts to CAE and vehicle energy analysis and management. The Position HATCI is currently seeking a Senior Engineering Manager - EV Battery System Research and Development (BSD) for our Superior Township, MI facility (near Ann Arbor).  The BSD is an Engineering Department within AEL, which was recently established to undertake projects related to EV high voltage Battery system research and development.  This position reports to the Director of AEL. Core Responsibilities Establish and build department\'s resources, capabilities, and a project portfolio for production vehicle and new technology development. Understand and follow group\'s business model, strategic direction, purpose, and mission and continually communicate them with direct reports. Set up department\'s goals and objectives aligned with group\'s direction, and drive execution, engagement, and results to accomplish them. Develop and manage department\'s plan, strategy, and budget allocation & usage. Assign tasks and evaluate performance of direct reports. Work with the Director to participate in group\'s resource planning, goal setting, and technology road map creation. Facilitate inter-team collaboration and knowledge sharing through transparent communication. Produce and deliver executive presentations on key project milestones and achievements. Remain current with new technology and competitive products as a means to drive innovation. Provide technical guidance and support for EV battery system related concerns for both pre-production and post-production issues. Lead and oversee engineering projects related to: Development or identification of new technologies, strategies, and methods for high voltage battery system of current and future Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis production hybrid and battery electric vehicles Support of North American electric vehicle plant including localized production parts verification and technical support Local response to EV quality issues in NA such as quality data acquisition, root cause analysis, improvement verification Feasibility analysis of new battery system technologies through simulation, lab tests, and on-road evaluations Introduction of selected battery technologies to current or next gen productions through active communications with Korean R&D Headquarter production programs. Research activities with external partners including national labs, universities, and tech suppliers. Investigation of industry trend in the area through benchmarking competitors\' systems & vehicles, application of the information to development directions and performance target settings Industry trend investigation, publication of technical papers and reports internally/externally.   • Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc (HATCI) is looking for a mid-level Closures Engineer (EII) at our Superior Township, MI facility who will: Design, develop Closure systems (hood, trunk lid, tailgate, doors, sealing, advanced closures). Perform design-releasing duties for N.A. based vehicle projects and manage system BOM\'s. Experienced in the use of CATIA V5 and other engineering tools to create and modify 3D data and 2D drawings. Lead system cost/mass target reduction studies for component parts. Lead investigations into system quality, assembly and durability issues and suggest engineering improvements whist mentoring and guiding junior engineers on best practices to mitigate future issues. Lead cross-functional team interface actions with other engineering design teams, supplier etc both domestically & within Korea. Lead design & issue resolution actions with US based Korean Coordinators. Review and advise on part / system performance and regulatory testing. Lead system benchmarking activities for future product development opportunities. Liaise between North American affiliates and Korean headquarters.
