The role involves being a clinician/teacher to residents and medical students in a general internal medicine-oriented program. Special interest in medical education, health services, research, patient safety and quality improvement are helpful. The Internal Medicine Faculty assists the Program Director in all facets of the academic program. The ACGME accredited program, affiliated with Michgian State University trains 39 residents over a three-year cycle.
Mix of inpatient and outpatient
Approximately 150 outpatient visits per week
Inpatient census: 4-20 patients per day
Precept residents in the office setting
Inpatient rounding: 2.5 days per week
Participate in didactics and lectures
Monday-Friday: 7am-5pm
Call Schedule: Rotates
What You Will Need Licenses/Certifications/Registration:
Required Credential(s):
Physician MD/DO with Prescriptive Authority credentialed from the Michigan Board of Medicine obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Verified by local Credentialing Office.
Preferred Credential(s):
Advanced Life Support credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA).
Education:
Diploma
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) or Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or Doctor of Optometry (OD) or Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) required
Work Experience:
Interest in medical education, health services, research, patient safety, and quality improvement
