Qualifications:

B.A in communications or related field, or equivalent in experience in volunteer Management

Two (2) years' experience in volunteer /Customer support

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Member Support Specialist on-boards new troop leaders and service unit volunteers, and provides ongoing support of girl and adult membership in assigned geographic areas. This position works closely with Placement Specialists, through Volunteer Systems, to ensure that newly registered volunteers are on-boarded, trained, and connected within a specified amount of time. Member Support Specialists work collaboratively with Recruitment and Product Sales & Finance Specialists to implement strategy for recruitment of service unit volunteers.

RESPONSIBILITIES including but not limited to:

1. Responsible for annual renewal of existing volunteer and girl memberships

2. Receives volunteers through, and responds to automated tasks from Volunteer Systems

3. Communicates with leaders in regard to on-boarding, training, and support

4. Under the guidance of the Girl Expereince Manager , assists in the implementation of council strategies which lead to thriving mission delivery.

5. Participates on assigned teams for implementation of plans and initiatives.

6. Serves as primary support staff to service unit, establishes regular meetings with service unit managers and service unit teams to plan for upcoming meetings and conduct wrap-up conversations following the service unit meeting. Participates in SU meetings as needed.

7. Provides on-going volunteer training, management, support, and resources, to include selection, release, supervision, and direction of administrative volunteers and troop leaders in assigned areas.

8. Works collaboratively with Recruitment Specialist and Placement Specialist to recruit and build strong functioning volunteer teams, identifying team leaders and evaluating existing leaders to achieve maximum performance at service unit and regional level.

9. Participates in the development, implementation and monitoring of yearly membership and marketing strategic plans and budgets to achieve organizational and area goals.

10. Assist service unit volunteers with conflict resolution in order to reach the best solution or compromise for all parties involved.

11. Effectively interprets council and GSUSA policies and procedures to volunteers within assigned geographic areas.

12. Works collaboratively with Service Unit teams to provide girl programming through Service Unit events, and volunteer support to specified geographic areas.

13. Participates in the development of community assessment and cultivation strategies that support the delivery of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience to girl members.

14. Special projects and other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions:

Ability to successfully complete all pre-employment and post-employment screenings including, but not limited to, background check

Ability to follow and maintain safe working practices at all times

Ability to frequently operate office equipment including; key board, copy machine, fax machine, register, and multi-line telephone

Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds

Maintain registration as a member of the Girl Scouts of the USA

Possess and retain a valid driver's license and vehicle insurance

Provide own transportation

Ability to travel to various event and activities, including overnights

Ability to work various days and hours including weekends and evenings

Ability to effectively communicate verbally and written
