St. Ann's Residence is looking for a motivated individual with a dedication to working with senior citizens in a residential setting. The mission of Saint Anns Residence is to enhance the quality of life of older adults by providing a secure, comfortable, and homelike environment.

St. Anns is looking for a PT Activity Assistant. Hours vary as needed but include 2 weekends per month.

The primary purpose of this position is to assist the Director of Program Services in providing quality activity programming for the residents of St. Anns. This includes working directly with residents, families, volunteers and students to meet residents needs. Assists with recruiting and maintaining volunteers and student programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.

Plan, prepare and facilitate activity programs and/or visits with individual residents to assist them to perform to their highest ability.

Encourage participation and involvement of residents in activities and volunteering and finds ways to motivate them.

Keep records as needed such as store inventory, orders, library records and assists and prepares articles for monthly newsletter.

Straightens and maintains a clean activity area and uses proper procedures with equipment.

Must have a valid drivers license to drive the bus for outings.

Assist on outings with residents and community projects.

Inform residents of ongoing activities, announce activities, make posters and put up on bulletin boards.

Must introduce entertainers and be able to speak in front of large groups.

Prepares and serves food and cleans area following activity.

Must treat residents with dignity and respect, in accordance with St. Anns Mission Statement and Guiding Principles.

Must maintain appropriate confidentiality in accordance with HIPPA.

Works as a flexible team member, accepting directives, giving input and suggestions while demonstrating respect for supervisor and co-workers.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or GED. Current and valid drivers license. Current or willing to obtain certification as an Activity Assistant by the National Certification Council of Activity Professionals. Ability to read, write and lead groups. Prior experience working with seniors, volunteers and students in activity programming preferred.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Current or willing to obtain certification as an Activity Assistant by the National Certification Council of Activity Professionals.
