Installation, removal and maintenance of electrical lines, equipment and fiber optic cable.
Coordinates line work activities with various departments, contractors and the general public.
Restores electrical service by trouble shooting electrical lines and equipment.
Minimizes outage duration by effectively diagnosing problems and planning/implementing restoration activities.
Maintains continuity and reliability of service through technical proficiency in work procedures and detection/repair of defective equipment encountered in daily activities.
Compliance with MP safety rules and applicable federal/state laws/regulations.
Initiates proper documentation to record operations activities for legal, historical and administrative purposes.
Required to work effectively and courteously with and around the public at all times regardless of conditions.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills required to develop and maintain positive working relationships.
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
High school graduate or equivalent
Internal candidates must have completed pre-requisite requirements
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
Advanced Apprentice Level - Over 2 years of job-related experience as a lineworker
Apprentice Level – Over one year of job related experience as a lineworker or candidate has completed a Technical College Lineworker training program
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
External candidates must have a valid CDL license
Internal candidates must have passed the written portion of the CDL and must be able to obtain and maintain appropriate commercial driver's license
Preference for at least a 4th Step Apprentice
