Job Description

The Continuous Improvement Director is responsible for the overall execution of the Jack Link’s Continuous Improvement Strategy. They will support the organization in achieving strategic goals by leading cross-functional teams through operational improvement initiatives resulting in improved productivity while advancing the operational performance. The position will be a resource to the Plant Leadership and Continuous Improvement teams facilitating meetings, kaizen events, metrics and assisting in the root cause problem solving processes.The Director implements transformational strategies to respond to internal and external drivers; challenges existing practices. Partners with Team Members to identify innovative ways of achieving strategic KPIs and goals. They will also work, plan and align with all levels of Team Members within the locations they serve. In this role you will be seen as a resource that is proficient in the identification of solutions to difficult and/or complex problems. Finally this role will have a large influence and impact on the practices, approaches, policies, and procedures of the organization.

Qualifications

The duties and responsibilities of this position shall consist of, but not be limited to, the following:

· Be the plant level change agent responsible for leading and managing the continuous improvement process with the Team Members.

· Work along with the Plant Leadership Team to monitor plant targets and Key Performance Indicators on a regular basis.

· Communicate effectively; Establish action plans and follow-up meetings, as needed, to advance process improvements to achieve targets.

· Instill “hands-on,” systematic approach to problem solving (“Gemba”) that equates to real value from the plant floor to the store floor.

· Develop talent and drive engagement to continually improve through systematic application of continuous improvement methodologies, leading by example.

· Ensure accountability by managing the plant level Key Performance Indicator charting and posting process including daily, weekly and monthly KPI’s.

· Support the simplification of data within the organization utilizing Power BI and SAP.

· Manage complexity; Leverage Statistics and other data analysis methods to provide data to plant teams and operational leadership to facilitate the improvement of operations within the facility.

· Collaborate by being a member on improvement teams to help with data analysis, problem solving and presentation of solutions to various levels of the organization.

· Support Kaizen activities to drive improvements in performance by facilitating and leading events onsite.

· Plan and align work; Be the owner of the Simple Root Cause problem solving tool and train people on its use.

· Implement a cost savings tracking process based on corporate process to meet targets.

· Facilitates complex accelerated improvement workshops for value stream analysis, standard work, improved throughput, quality improvement, cost reduction, workplace organization and other objectives.

· Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree required in Business, Engineering, Food Science or other related field or related experience in Continuous Improvement.

- 5 - 7 years of experience working in a manufacturing environmentin a leadership role

- 3+ Years Influencing roles including CI, Lean or Support Functions

- Experience or education in Statistical Process control, root-cause analysis and or other analytical methods.

- Previous continuous improvement training and experience with value stream management tools, Kaizen methods, 5S, leader standard work development, and other Lean tools and methodologies

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE and ABILITIES:

· Strong and effective communication and presentation skills

· Proficient in Microsoft Office

· Previous project management experience leading and completing group projects involving cross-functional teams, meeting established timelines, budgets and deliverables

· Ability to maintain and handle multiple functions/ tasks

· Demonstrated ability to diplomatically communicate needs and recommendations

· Communication skills that ensure personal credibility and effectiveness

· Demonstrated proactive style that ensures the completion of projects despite obstacles

· Actively seek to utilize a “Collaborative Team Approach” in all situations

Work Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The work environment is a plant/office setting with varying degree of temperatures and noise levels. Exposure to manufacturing equipment movement and wet/slippery floors. Most of the time will be spent in a production environment. Travel may be required.
