Primary Responsibilities:
  • Collect and understand business requirements for dataset creation for research projects as determined by research analysts and Product Analytics leaders
  • Develop code to extract health insurance claims data, health care operational data, and clinical data from a variety of data sources
  • Perform data cleansing, transformation, aggregation, and summarization and output datasets for end users
  • Investigate data quality issues and research data anomalies
  • Document data and programming processes
  • Serve as a data SME across multiple internal data sources
  • Work collaboratively with other teams to develop standard code and data protocols to be used across Product Analytics team
  • Work independently to develop efficient code for creating complex integrated datasets
  • Interact directly with customers to gather specifications for research projects and ad hoc requests
  • Produce and interpret data analytics in support of Optum Behavioral Care

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5+ years experience in analyzing health insurance claims, transactions data, biometric, health assessment, or similar types of clinical, program or employer data
  • 5+ years experience integrating data from large relational databases
  • 5+ years experience writing advanced Data Step SAS programs
  • If you need to enter a work site for any reason, you will be required to screen for symptoms using the ProtectWell mobile app, Interactive Voice Response (i.e., entering your symptoms via phone system) or similar UnitedHealth Group-approved symptom screener. When in a UnitedHealth Group building, employees are required to wear a mask in common areas. In addition, employees must comply with any state and local masking orders


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience using BI tools such as PowerPivot, PowerBI or Tableau
  • Behavioral health experience

Colorado Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $94,500 to $171,700.
