The Birdhouse Eat & Drink is a new American-style eatery and bar that is opening soon in the heart of Robbinsdale’s thriving downtown. Our concept starts with familiar comfort foods with subtle innovations. To take our kitchen to the next level, we are now looking for a talented and driven individual to fill the role of Kitchen Manager.
Our first priority will be the collective health of our community. This will require dedication, persistence, and ingenuity. The needs of our patrons are constantly changing, and we need to adapt to satisfy those demands. Fortunately, the expectations of our kitchen manager will remain mostly constant for the present and future. The ideal candidate will have experience in a wide range of culinary approaches as well as general business management, including but not limited to the following-
Food purchasing- sourcing from multiple vendors: from nearby farms, local produce cooperatives, broad-liner partnerships, whatever maximizes organizational opportunity, best receiving practices
Menu Development- direction on food menus and recipe rotation, weekly and monthly culinary promotions, curation of affordable and alluring happy hour menus, brunch offering a la carte or buffet-style
Human Resources- employee files and regulatory compliance, implementation and enforcement of rules and policies, interviewing/on-boarding/training/evaluation, continuing education
Facility maintenance- safety and security inspection, facilitate building and equipment repairs, monitor sanitation and cleaning systems, maximize the functionality of the department space
Operations- competent in both line and prep cooking, oversee company product specification and standard operating procedures (SOP’s), integrate creativity into SOP’s, foster a safe and meaningful work environment
Administrative- inventory control, cost of goods and cost of labor management, regulatory compliance
Qualifications-
At least 10 years of restaurant experience, at least 3 years in a supervisory role
Comfortable in a high volume, full bar, event-driven environment
Food Protection Manager Certification
Attention to detail in terms of product, service, and atmosphere
Positive, viral attitude towards co-workers and patrons
Knowledge of Microsoft Office software
Upserve (Breadcrumb) POS programming
Ability to work independently and in team structures
FMLA, ADA, FLSA and other regulatory considerations
