Our Client in St. Paul is seeking an Interim Director of Application Services for an engagement of 6 to 9 months until they can fill the position permanently. This position will report directly to CIO.

Roles and responsibilities

• Supervise 4 application managers

• Supervise the areas of custom software development, packaged software administration, enterprise applications (ERP), DevSecOps, GIS, Testing, Integration.

• Complete an effort to reorganize the department. They were organized by the division (customer) they supported, and we are now aligning teams together by expertise/skillset and similar type of work.

• Including redefine the roles and responsibilities of all staff and creating and adopting new workflows

• Oversee the transition to Modern Application Development in a Microsoft centric environment

• Support an Azure migration

• Expand the team through the adoption of 3rd party professional and managed services

• Possibility to be hired full time through a competitive process thereafter

Required experience

5+ years in an organization with a total IT staff off 100+ people

2+ years as a manager of IT managers in the application space

The position will need to report on site 3 days a week, typically Tue, Wed, Thu

Skill in managing complex technology projects and determining how to manage project resources and milestones/deliverables.

Skill in building IT service-based budgets.

Demonstrated ability to lead complex organizations through change using the principles of Servant Leadership.

Ability to provide mentorship and coaching to other managers.

Ability to develop and implement strategic plans.

Ability to perform self-assessment, assess capabilities of others and organizational structures to make improvements or take corrective action.

Ability to analyze complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.

Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure changing environment.
