Overview:The Virtualization Engineer's duties include developing, maintaining, and scheduling access to IT Lab environments that are both physical and public cloud-based. The successful candidate will have meticulous organizational skills, attention to detail, and strong written and verbal interpersonal skills. They will have a wide familiarity with IT infrastructure equipment, software, and concepts, with the ability to learn new technology and new features for existing technology. They will preferably have previous experience running an IT lab, with the goal of providing and maintaining a number of concurrent lab projects and equipment deployment/configuration tasks. They will have experience in virtualization, server hardware, thin client hardware, and Microsoft and Linux O/Ss with an ability to script and automate daily tasks to improve lab efficiency and availability.The ideal candidates for this position will be able to think and work independently and meet all necessary guidelines. They will be able to effectively interact with employees, clients, and colleagues and demonstrate the ability to handle multiple tasks/projects. Decommission of retired equipment and accounts
Create, edit and maintain Visio diagrams, workbooks, best practices, testing, and other documentation
Work with engineers and stakeholders to understand and implement lab requirements
Keep labs updated as product and content changes
Provisioning and deprovisioning lab processes and procedures
Responsible for lab security and lab troubleshooting
Continually identify, propose and implement opportunities for improvement
Ensure applications and systems remain in a compliant state by processing change control requests for system configurations, including requirement and/or design specifications, test plans, technical evaluations and quality risk assessments
Work with cross-functional teams to ensure system integration with other applications as required
Optimize system configurations to maximize performance and ensure availability
Participate in planning and implementation of system changes and upgrades
Develop and maintain automation and orchestration software and script to assist with lab infrastructure
Prioritize and efficiently manage multiple concurrent lab projects and equipment deployment/configuration tasks
Execute manual and automated testing and inventory management
Document current and new approaches
Monitor health of machines and help with necessary maintenance if needed (replace burnt parts, upgrade parts, etc)
Create/Update inventory reports
Report on daily lab deployment/configuration status and results
Configure labs to support QA testing and ensure lab uptime
Coordinate with various teams' software updates and load testing for their components, ensuring they get properly deployed and tested in the lab.
Assist multiple distributed teams with testing setup, measurement, and other activities that interface with the labs
Manage planning efforts for both virtual and Labs, including coordinating logistics, overseeing and ensuring completion of key activities, identifying and escalating risks, and managing communication and coordination among lab participants and stakeholders
Research and pilot innovative approaches that will enhance performance, uptime and security, including data analysis and documentation of findings
Qualifications:Education and specific Training:Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or similar focus or equivalent experience
Preferred: 2+ years' experience building/owning/maintaining lab environment
2-3+ years' experience in Technical Support/Networking/System Admin role
Work experience:Experience with load generation software
Experience with lab management software and procedures
Experience on implementations with thin clients and thin client O/S's (Linux preferred) and Citrix (preferred)
Experience upgrading and patching Windows environments
Working knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, IIS, SQL Server, DNS, DHCP, Networking and Linux for advanced troubleshooting.
Experience with Cloud services from CVAD + Azure, CVAD Service and/or DaaS and virtualization solutions
Experience identifying risks due to changes within infrastructure
Able to work alone and as a team member
Experience with multiple virtualization platforms such as VMware, Citrix Hypervisor, Azure VMs, Nutanix AHV
Experience with basic network infrastructure including wiring, switches, routers, firewalls, etc.Prior application development experience in Puppet/Chef, Ansible, Jenkins, Ivanti Automation/RES, and other Automation and Deployment frameworks

Experience in PXE based booting and provisioning, snapshotting, reverting, etc.
Experience using tools such as JIRA, Confluence, SharePoint, MS Project
